In late November, the new Burger King restaurant at Carberry Place, strategically located next to Mitchelston Industrial Estate, opened its doors and drive-thru.
What makes this Burger King unique is not just the iconic BK menu, but the cutting-edge commercial kitchen designed and installed by Sprint Group.
Challenged with the task of creating a compact kitchen within the confines of a new-format Drive-Thru Burger King – the first of its kind in the UK – Sprint Group rose to the occasion. Drawing inspiration from the successful Swindon Pod, the design incorporates a Heated Shelf Section above the Drive-Thru Service Area, setting the stage for future Home Delivery services.
The innovative Open Format kitchen concept provides customers with an unobstructed view into the production and operational areas, enhancing transparency and showcasing the culinary craftsmanship behind their favourite meals. Sprint’s kitchen equipment adheres to Burger King’s modular platform, ensuring that cooking, holding, preparation and wash-up areas meet the highest standards of hygiene and operational efficiency.
Adrian Sharpe, Project Manager at Sprint Group, expressed pride in the company’s free-thinking approach, stating: “This is the first of a brand new line of restaurants incorporating a reduced kitchen footprint while still offering customers the complete Burger King experience, including Drive-Thru and Home Delivery. Our design not only delivered another high-quality kitchen concept in a short timeframe but did so seamlessly the first time.”
Sprint Group’s success in meeting the challenge was made possible by their close collaboration with the BK Project Manager, Project Management Team and contractors. The efficient teamwork enabled the timely and budget-friendly delivery of the kitchen within a particularly challenging site and timeframe.
The accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of key suppliers and partners, including Middleby UK Ltd, True Manufacturing, Scandia, Duke Manufacturing, Thompsons Ltd, Mechline Developments, Jestic and East Anglian Installations Systems Ltd. Their contributions played a pivotal role in bringing Sprint Group’s vision to life, setting a new standard for Burger King kitchens and driving the future of fast-food service innovation.
