Commercial Catering Design and Installation for the New Burger King Restaurant in Bath

Another successful collaboration between Sprint and Burger King for a new Inline restaurant in the vibrant SouthGate shopping district in Bath.

In brief: The establishment of the new Burger King restaurant at Bath’s SouthGate shopping district stands as a testament to Sprint’s expertise in commercial catering design and installation. The project’s achievements include the adaptation of the Open Format kitchen concept, adherence to operational and hygiene standards and the seamless collaboration with suppliers and partners. The result is a restaurant that not only meets Burger King’s operational requirements but also enhances the dining experience for patrons through innovative design.

The project involved overcoming unique challenges in adapting the Burger King operational platform to a pre-existing building layout, while ensuring compliance with Burger King’s stringent operational and hygiene standards.

Sprint’s engagement in this project revolved around the strategic design and implementation of Burger King’s cutting-edge DSS Open Format kitchen modular platform, tailored to include the latest Home Delivery Section. The existing building layout was not originally designed to accommodate this specific operational platform, which posed a significant challenge in terms of spatial integration and functionality.

The innovative Open Format kitchen concept was embraced to provide customers with an enhanced dining experience by offering a transparent view into the kitchen’s production area. This approach aligns with contemporary trends in restaurant design, fostering a connection between patrons and the culinary process.

The kitchen equipment supplied and installed by Sprint adhered to Burger King’s mandated modular platform. This approach ensured that all aspects of cooking, holding, preparation and wash-up areas met the high standards of hygiene and operational efficiency. Notably, the project required the division of operations across two floors, with coldrooms strategically positioned on the first floor for optimal workflow.

The success of this project was underpinned by Sprint’s close collaboration with key stakeholders. Effective communication and partnership with the Burger King Project Manager, Sprint Project Manager and other contractors facilitated the streamlined delivery of the kitchen within a challenging site and timeframe. Despite the complexities posed by the project’s parameters, Sprint’s Projects Team achieved on-time and within-budget delivery, showcasing the company’s commitment to excellence.

Sprint extends its gratitude to a network of invaluable suppliers and partners that played a pivotal role in this project. The collaboration with Middleby UK Ltd, True Manufacturing, Scandia, Duke Manufacturing, Barnwood Ltd, Mechline Developments, Jestic and East Anglian Installations Systems Ltd ensured the availability of top-tier equipment and resources, contributing to the project’s overall success.
