Raising standards

Building on our recent ISO 14001 accreditation achievement – setting the standard for Environmental Management Systems and reducing waste management costs and protecting the environment – we vow to continue to raise standards by joining ceda.

As specialists in design, projects and equipment for the foodservice, catering and hospitality industry, our membership means that we’re connected with the most professional, innovative and creative companies in our Industry. We will be working in conjunction with our peers to raise standards – in all that we do.

ceda promotes an atmosphere of enterprise, innovation and fair competition where Members operate ethically, encourage excellence and strive for improved standards in both their businesses and the wider Industry – and we’re thrilled to be involved. ISO 14001 accreditation

Sprint Group aim to design and install the highest quality commercial kitchen and provide ongoing technical support to keep  kitchens operational. We’re keen to remain ahead of the game and have recently been awarded our ISO 14001 accreditation – proving we’re on top form, when it comes to kitchen design and installation.

ISO 14001 sets the standard for Environmental Management Systems and we’re forging ahead with our green certification – which has been noted by Catering Insight Magazine and in County Lifestyle and Leisure Magazine; named one of the Top 20 UK Lifestyle Magazines.

By achieving this accreditation, we demonstrate our commitment to reduce waste management costs and protecting the environment. We’ve implemented this global standard to support the entire organisation in complying with the increasingly stringent environmental laws and regulations, as well as building trust with customers and other stakeholders.

Sprint Group take sustainability seriously and are proud to support Recycle Week 2018, which runs until September 30.

From April to July this year, we recovered over 20 tonnes of packaging from our customers’ sites with 100% of all cardboard and 96% of all non-card waste recycled.

MD Tom named in industry Power List

Hot on the heels of our triumph at the Foodservice Equipment Journal Awards, we’re thrilled to announce that MD Tom Bartley-Smith has been named in the final five in the Business Leaders category in the Catering Insight Power List 2018.

The initiative seeks to recognise personnel excellence in the UK catering equipment distributor sector and also honours Industry Innovators, Project Pioneers, Young Trailblazers and Unsung Heroes.

Tom, pictured third on the left, is the fourth Sprint Group team member to make the list, following in the footsteps of our late founder David Ryan, operations director Ross Ryan and finance department manager Becky Webley.

The citation, which appears on Page 20 of the July issue of Catering Insight, pays tribute to Tom overseeing the growth of Sprint’s sales and service teams in order to provide enhanced project design, equipment specification and maintenance support to an increasing number of customers across the UK.

Sprint scoops prestigious industry award

Sprint Group has been named Multi-Site Kitchen Project House of the Year at the Foodservice Equipment Journal Awards 2018.

Managing director Tom Bartley-Smith and sales director Ian Bryant were presented with the prestigious prize by FEJ editor Andrew Seymour at the gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.

On receiving the award, Mr Bartley-Smith said: “Our founder David Ryan passed away 12 months ago, so this award is testament to both him and our team’s ability to take the company forward.”

The citation read: “Standalone items of equipment need to be knitted together with the perfect design to deliver a winning kitchen and that’s the job of a professional kitchen house or distributor. This accolade applies to those companies that are working with multi-site users to deliver full kitchen projects encompassing everything from design and specification to installation and commissioning.

“A period of unprecedented growth saw Sprint Group crowned one of the fastest-expanding mid-sized businesses in Worcestershire following a string of prestigious catering schemes during the past 12 months.

“The company has grown its sales and service teams in order to provide enhanced project design, equipment specification and maintenance support to the growing numbers of customers it serves around the UK.

“Projects carried out for Caprice Holdings have been among some of the most technically challenging it has ever completed, while its work with high street chains such as Tortilla demonstrates its ability to efficiently manage roll-outs across multiple sites to deadline.”

There were 12 award categories overall, with five honouring the innovation, investment and expertise illustrated by equipment suppliers and seven paying tribute to the skill, hard work and judgement that operators need to demonstrate to create successful kitchen and foodservice environments.

Sprint Group is delighted to have been shortlisted for the multi-site kitchen project house of the year award at the Foodservice Equipment Journal Awards 2018.

There are 12 categories overall, with five honouring the investment, innovation and expertise illustrated by equipment suppliers and seven paying tribute to the skill, hard work and judgement that operators need to demonstrate to create successful kitchen and foodservice environments.

FEJ will be inviting the industry to vote for their winners in each category, with the results set to be announced on Tuesday, June 5 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The gala dinner and awards ceremony will take place on the first evening of Commercial Kitchen 2018.

Two new hires for Sprint Group sales team

Sprint Group Simon Dann

Sprint Group is continuing its expansion with the appointment of two sales managers.

Matthew Francis and Simon Dann, pictured above, have been tasked with looking after key accounts and attracting new business.

Matthew, who will focus on London and the South East, worked in magazine publishing before setting up his own company SJF Catering Equipment. He then spent 19 months with Swift Catering Equipment, working on a wide range of design and installation projects before joining Sprint Group.

Previously a national account manager with Lincat for two years, Simon has also worked for Zenith Hygiene Group and spent ten years in sales and product development roles within the motor industry.

Sprint Group sales director Ian Bryant said: “I’m delighted to welcome Matthew and Simon to the sales team. They both have vast knowledge and experience of the industry and will help to extend the company’s reach across the UK as we seek to identify new opportunities, particularly in the hotel and leisure, education and care home sectors.”

Sprint gets taste of high society with club project

Sprint Group joined the A list with an installation project at a legendary members club in London’s Mayfair.

The company fitted four bespoke commercial kitchens at the new Annabel’s, spanning the Main House Grade One listed building in Berkeley Square and Hays Mews building from basement to third floor and including a preparation and laboratory area in the annexed vaulted cellars in Hays Mews.

Among the stand-out features are cooksuites built to include specific appliances for the client’s varied requirements, ten purpose built cold and freezer rooms, bespoke ventilation canopies, pizza and proving ovens and a dedicated pastry kitchen.

Sprint Group project manager Mark Chillingworth said: “This was one of the most challenging and ultimately rewarding projects I’ve ever been involved with. The whole team is delighted with the result, which illustrates our consistently high levels of expertise and customer service. During the project, we liaised closely with executive chef Julien Jouhannaud, the site project team and subcontractors to ensure that all requirements and programmed installation dates were kept to.”

The delivery and installation of the third floor kitchen involved a complicated hoist lift from ground level before the retractable glass roof covering the dining area was installed.

Paul Jenkins, purchasing director of Caprice Holdings, said: “We put our faith in Sprint to deliver this landmark project and they have exceeded our expectations. They have delivered superbly designed kitchens on time and of the highest quality.

“The Sprint team are knowledgeable, incredibly supportive and a pleasure to work with. We’d be delighted to work with them again in future.”
